Joshua Allan Cranfill is an inspiration to the community who sadly lost his battle on June 3, 2013. Joshua turned 7 this past December and has fought and beat cancer three different times in his young life. On Monday, he passed away due to a rare side effect of the chemotherapy.
Joshua was diagnosed with Rhabdomysarcoma on 5/16/06 at 5 months old, on 7/6/07 at 1.5 years, and on 9/25/12 when he was 6.5 years old. Rhabdomyosarcoma, Rhabdo, is diagnosed in only about 300 children per year. Joshua is the only child to be diagnosed before reaching 6 months old. Rhabdo is almost unheard of in children so young.
Joshua is an inspiration to everyone reminding them to live each day to the fullest. Even when he was in treatment, Joshua was known as the “rock star” and at the age of 2 could often be found throwing the football in the hallway with nurses and doctors. His parents agree that his upbeat attitude and pleasant disposition made it easier on everyone to get through even the toughest of days.
