Academy Program
U9 and U10 SHAL players have the additional opportunity of playing on Sundays in the Academy Program.  Academy teams participate in the *Player Development Friendlies (PDF) LeagueThe Academy and the PDF League are intended for player skills development.  With an emphasis on technical skills, the Academy allows many players ages 8-10 to advance their ability at this critical time in their development process.  Academy teams are coached by our professional staff and play against other clubs' Academy teams at locations in South Houston, Spring, Cypress, The Woodlands, and Katy. The Academy is designed to be more competitive than SHAL and has tiered brackets - Gold, Silver and Bronze.  Academy players also get dedicated practice sessions conducted by our pro staff twice per week.
Academy players also have access to extra CDP (Competitive Development Program) sessions a week.  CDP is a supplemental program to improve the technical development of the players.  CDP competes in 3v3 tournaments as well as provides other gaming opportunities throughout the year.

U7 and U8 players have the option to join our Jr. Academy.  Our Jr. Academy is trained by our professional staff.  The professional staff will determine the most appropriate gaming league for each of the teams.
Jr. Academy players will also be able to participate in our CDP program.
*Players that commit to playing with any club in the PDF League are committed to that club for both the fall and spring seasons.  The league does not allow players to join or be involved in any official activities with any other PDF Club/Team starting August 1st until the last game of the Spring season.  You can click here to learn more about the PDF League Policies.

The Academy is a good venue for those players with the right combination of skills and attitude who want to improve their technical abilities, play more soccer during the week, and/or who want to check out competitive soccer ...before their U11 season!  It's also a great mixing pot for kids from all the clubs who participate in SHAL (SCFC, PL United, GCYSC).

IMPORTANT: Team rosters are not frozen on Academy teams!  After tryouts, the professional staff will initially place players into the player pool at the Gold, Silver or Bronze level.  Then, based on practice and game performance, skills level, attitude, and dedication, players can be moved up or down in level.  This is done so that the player can get maximum touches on the ball, gain confidence, and learn the game.

Players are eligible to be selected for Academy teams that play in competitive tournaments such as the Eclipse Academy Cup, Houston Express Power Cup, and SCFC's Spring Fling.

Players that make Academy teams are required to pay an extra team fees for Academy gear and tournament fees.

IMPORTANT ELIGIBILITY POLICY!!!  Players accepted into the Academy Program may still participate in SHAL for no additional fee.  Details will be provided upon acceptance into the Academy program
